Korea’s Art & Culture: Past to Present

Today’s students use Korean electronics, drive Korean cars and listen to Korean pop music, but few know about the dynamic country that’s re-shaping the economic and political landscape of East Asia. Korea’s Art & Culture: Past to Present is a six-day in-service 3P (3 credit) course offered in conjunction with the NYC DOE’s After School Professional Development Program that equips teachers to incorporate Korea into their curriculum. Participants will explore Korean history, religion, art, literature, film, language, politics and pop culture, as well as the global tensions surrounding North Korea, from nationally recognized scholars. Throughout the course, participants will collaborate on how to transfer their newfound knowledge to classroom practice and on designing teaching materials that fit the diverse needs of their classrooms.

To attend this course for non-credit, simply register above. All are welcomed to attend.

To receive 3-P credit, participants must register at the New York City Department of Education’s After School Professional Development website  http://schools.nyc.gov/Teachers/aspdp  first and then register with The Korea Society above.
